Talk Title: New developments in the field of monolithic columns

Frantisek Svec received both degrees B.S. in chemistry and Ph.D. degree in polymer chemistry from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Prague (Czech Republic). In 1976 he joined the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in Prague. He accepted joined faculty at the Cornell University in 1992. Since 1997, he was appointed at the University of California, Berkeley and affiliated with the Molecular Foundry of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He was professor at the Beijing University of Chemical Technology in 2014-17. He accepted position at Pharmaceutical Faculty of the Charles University in Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic in 2017. Dr. Svec authored over 450 scientific publications that produced about 25,000 citations and has an h-index of 92. He edited 2 books, and authored 75 patents. He is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Separation Science and Separation Science Plus. He received numerous awards and distinctions for his pioneering work with monoliths including ACS award in Chromatography, A.J.P. Martin gold medal of the UK Chromatographic Society, CASSS award, and many others. F. Svec is best known for his research in the area of monoliths and their use in applications including liquid chromatography, electrochromatography, supports for solid phase chemistry, enzyme immobilization, and microfluidics.
